Banks Still Aren’t Selling. So we know that commercial real estate vacancies are on the rise. Along with that we know that more and more commercial loans are in default (uh … in “special workout situations). We also know more banks are failing almost daily. With all of this pain in CRE, where are all of the commercial real estate assets that should be on the market at a discount? Good question, me asks. Could it be that the FDIC doesn’t want to start another financial crisis? Heck, there’s only a few Trillion Dollars worth of commercial real estate loans out there. It probably wouldn’t be a very good idea to see a collapse in this market. What’s the tip in all of this? There is probably more downside in CRE prices and opportunities for bridge financing in the near future.
